Bhartiya Dnyanpith Bahuudeshiya Gramin Vikas Sanstha Wadgaon (BDBV), a non-profit voluntary organization is a collective vision of young development experts with a motivation to work at grassroots among the most disadvantage section of the society in one of the India’s poorest district. BDBV is working to ensure and institutionalize a process of participatory rural development especially women, the SCs and STs as a development agent through credit for self-employment services. BDBV was formally registered as a society under India Society’s Act 1860 in 1994 to promote rural development through watershed development & self-help solutions to combat poverty and hunger. It was established with a collective vision of development professionals with vast experience of working with the people at grassroots in development.

To replicate the development mission BDBV also facilitate in capacity building of smaller NGOs/CSOs on participatory rural development, self-help group, micro credit management, micro enterprise development, Environment and Biodiversity issues.
BDBV is also closely associated with Bhrastachar Virodhi Jan Andolan(BVJA) - a movement headed by Mr. Anna Hazare to generate awareness among people to check transparency and performance of government programmes and schemes in Maharastra. It also plays advocacy role in the aspects of right to information, law of secrecy and section 73 and 74.
Organization’s Primary Area of Focus
BDBV activities are primarily on self-governance, advocacy, strengthening local institutions, assets creation, micro enterprise, market linkages, community mobilization, women sensitization, self-help and natural resource management.
Target Group Addressed
BDBV operation are primarily focused on the upliftment of Schedule Tribes and Schedule Caste, Below Poverty Line(BPL) especially women Adolescent and Youth in Yavatmal district. Like all other activities of BDBV is also targeted for the poorest of the poor i.e. women , STs and SCs, BPLs.
Areas of Expertise
BDBV and partner CSOs in the last 10 years have demonstrated tangible success on the ground with expertise in strategic intervention for various development initiatives. Some of the demonstrated expertise of the professionals are in community based development planning, community mobilization, local self governance, natural resource management, self help, micro-enterprise, participatory monitoring like social audit and capacity building of CSOs.
Systems in Place for Technical and Financial Management
At the Grassroots: BDBGVS has institutionalized a system of participatory planning and development system commonly called MANTHAN. Manthan is not merely an economic development exercise, villagers come together and discuss and sort out collective alternative solution for common problems.Manthanas a system of project management at the grassroots will be established as a collective action towards technical as well as financial management. Social audit as a participatory tool will be used in every village.
At organizational level computerized system for storage of program/project information & analysis is used for all the initiatives of BDBV. The data/information collected by the field staff at various level through the designed questionnaire is coded and analysed in computer. BDBV every year goes through internal as well as external audit with issue wise details of activities and the total project cost.
