BDBGVS' Microfinance wing works aggressively to provide financial assistance. BDBGVS uses Microfinance as important tool & medium for Poverty eradication. BDBGVS has partnered with multiple financial institutes to act as their extended arm and penetrate microfinance in the community. BDBGVS has successfully oriented multiple capacity building and educational programs to tackle this problem.
Rural development and agricultural productivity growth are crucial for poverty reduction.
Poverty cannot be eradicated without addressing the pervasive inequalities in incomes and economic opportunities between and within countries, between rural and urban areas, and between men and women. Reducing such inequalities will need to start with improving access for the poor to productive resources, basic services and social protection.
Microfinance
Microfinance is a method of providing financial services to low-income households and individuals who have limited access to formal financial institutions. It is often referred to as "banking for the underprivileged," as it aims to provide financial assistance to those who are often excluded from traditional banking systems. In the 1990s, microfinance institutions (MFIs) emerged as an alternative to traditional banks, which were hesitant to lend to individuals without a credit history. MFIs were created by risk-takers who saw an opportunity to organize rural communities and provide much-needed financial services to the underserved. According to Mohammed Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, access to credit is a fundamental human right that is essential for the poor to create self-employment and generate income.
Microfinance is an essential source of financial assistance for low-income individuals, including rural poor people, small entrepreneurs, and other low-income clients who face financial constraints in their businesses. Microfinance institutions offer access to financial support to help these individuals grow their businesses and improve their economic circumstances. They provide a range of financial services such as loans, deposits, savings accounts, money transfers, and insurance to assist individuals in managing their finances and promoting economic stability. In recent years, microfinance has gained widespread recognition as a powerful tool for poverty alleviation in both India and other developing economies.
